Information we collect

Account information

When you create or maintain an Alumen account, we may collect:

  • Email address

  • First and last name

  • Phone number

  • Account identifier

  • Optional profile photo

Journal and wellness data

When you use Alumen’s journal, we collect the entry text, selected journal format, timestamps, and any optional moods you select before or after writing.

Journal entries and selected moods are cloud-synced to your authenticated Alumen account.

When you use the cognitive game, we collect results such as reaction times, response consistency, accuracy, extra taps, calculated scores, and baseline progress.

Technical and usage data

Alumen and its service providers may process limited technical and diagnostic information needed to operate, secure, and maintain the application.

This may include device type, operating system, IP address, unique device identifiers, application activity, and diagnostic information.

How we use your information

Alumen may use personal data to:

  • Provide and maintain the application, including cloud syncing and reliability

  • Create, secure, and manage your account

  • Save, display, edit, and delete private journal entries and optional mood check-ins

  • Calculate and display cognitive game results, baseline progress, and trends

  • Provide optional game-performance suggestions after you expressly consent

  • Respond to support, privacy, and account requests

Alumen does not sell your personal data.

Journal text and mood check-ins are not used for advertising.

Data retention

Account information, journal entries, mood check-ins, and cognitive game results are retained while your Alumen account is active, unless you delete an individual journal entry sooner.

Service providers may retain limited backup, security, or diagnostic records according to their policies and applicable legal requirements.

Deleting your data

You can delete individual journal entries within the journal.

You can also delete your Alumen account from the profile screen. Account deletion removes the account’s:

  • Journal entries

  • Cognitive game results

  • User profile record

  • Authentication account

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.

Security

Alumen uses Google Firebase services for authentication, database storage, and optional profile-photo storage.

Firestore security rules restrict journal reads and writes to the authenticated account owner. Data is protected during transmission and while stored by our service providers, but journal entries are not end-to-end encrypted.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.

Children’s privacy

Alumen is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

If we learn that we collected personal data from a child under 13 without the authorization required by applicable law, we will take steps to delete it.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.

Changes will be posted on this page, and the Last updated date at the top of the policy will be updated.
